I’ve been neglecting the blog and social media lately… because we’ve been busier than ever!
Some of our current interior design projects have been underway for a while, although perhaps spending more time in our homes due to coronavirus has highlighted to people how important their homes can be.
Designing a new-build dream home in Chilworth, Southampton, Hampshire
In Hampshire we’re working in Chilworth for the first time, on the edge of Southampton. We’re working with a family on their dream new-build home. The builders are on site and as the walls go up it’s apparent there are a lot of decisions to be made.
Houses are often designed from the outside in, but we live in them from the inside out, and spend most of our time inside them. I’m helping this family to think about how they live, and how they want to live… and translating this into a fabulous new home for them.
Here you can see our development of the space planning from early hand-drawn plans through to CAD drawings. From this point we can develop the lighting designs and electrical layouts and requirements.
Our involvement at such an early stage is crucial. Not only does it ensure that the layout is planned out beautifully, it also means that the builder has all of the design input they need for the first-fix electrical and plumbing work. This is always an early part of a construction project, and it’s easier and cheaper to do this work right the first time, rather than making changes later on.
An interior redesign for a family in Winchester, Hampshire
Also in Hampshire, we’re working with a family in Winchester. They’re adding a large extension to their existing home and remodelling the interior at the same time. New works like this can sometimes be approached with just as much freedom as a new-build.
On this project we’re helping to plan out the new spaces to make them flow and function perfectly while also looking fantastic. And getting all of the architectural design in place ready for when the builders start.
