After 20 years bringing up their children in this much-loved family home, our brief from this couple was to redesign the interior for their next 20 years in the house.
The structure of the property was good, although we made a series of tweaks to the layout. Changes to doors, positions and orientations improved the use of individual spaces throughout the home, as well as enhancing the experience of moving through it.
The effect of this is felt throughout the ground floor in particular. The new kitchen and dining room that’s the hub of the home now connects naturally with the adjoining rooms, and its layout creates a more comfortable, open space for day-to-day living as well as entertaining.
The sitting room is a warm and inviting social space to enjoy with family and guests. The softly modern feel to the interior is created by a careful interplay of colour and texture in both the finishes as well as the custom-made furniture and furnishings throughout this elegant home.
In a large property it’s crucial that there’s consistency to the style and decoration, and with the interior design we introduced a sense of flow to the property whilst still creating unique atmospheres within individual spaces. So the snug features a reduced colour palette of warm neutrals, yet the careful combination of finishes and textures in the design scheme ensures that this space, whilst calm and cosy, looks and feels just as interesting.
There’s a lot more to see of this project, and it’s in our interior design portfolio here: A full house redesign in Goring / Streatley, South Oxfordshire
