Kitchen Redesign, Winchester, Hampshire
A full redecoration and refinishing of an open plan kitchen and dining room near Winchester, Hampshire.

A complete update of an existing Winchester kitchen
A redecoration of this existing Hampshire kitchen with a contemporary palette of colours and materials.
The deep grey moss painted cabinetry brings the look up-to-date. The drawers and cupboards are accented with smart polished copper knobs to bring sparkle to the kitchen, while toning with the existing worktop and floor.

A full refinished Aga oven
We had the existing Aga oven rebuilt with a completely new enamelled front in dark grey.
This bold colour renews the appearance of the oven, and it gave us the flexibility to introduce the contemporary colour palette to the kitchen.

Modern furniture in the dining area
A bright an airy dining space is at the other end of the room, with a large dining table in solid oak.
Mid-century furniture lends a modern twist to this period property, with Mario Bellini’s Cab chairs and an Eames DSW fibreglass chair in the study area.

Project Story
The open plan kitchen and dining room of this country home near Winchester and Petersfield in Hampshire was dated and chintzy. We were to bring it right up-to-date and give the interior a fresh look, while working on a limited budget.
For us it was important to introduce a palette of contemporary colours and materials to the room, while at the same time maintaining a feel that suited the period property and its rural setting.
The existing yellow Aga was the first thing to change, as its colour limited what we could use elsewhere in the design. We had the oven rebuilt with a brand new front panel in pewter grey, giving us more flexibility now and in the future.
We repainted the kitchen in a deep grey moss colour, chosen to tone with the existing flooring and worktops. We accented the cabinetry with simple polished copper knobs – a warmer alternative to silver finishes – which we sourced from a specialist manufacturer in Sweden.
A new splashback of handmade brick tiles was fitted, with white electrical accessories. The flooring and worktops were both refinished and some of the appliances were also updated.
Subtly matching accessories in copper were also added to complete the styling of the room, and add interest and sparkle. The lamps, clock, kettle and toaster are all part of the scheme.
The rest of the room as well as the wall cabinets were painted in an off-white to brighten the space, and new roller blinds were fitted to match. LED downlights were also installed.
For the dining space a solid oak table is paired with vintage Cab chairs by Mario Bellini. Their black leather matches the black granite island as well as the Aga for a harmonious overall effect to the interior.
