Project Story
Our clients had recently purchased this riverside apartment on the Imperial Wharf Estate by London’s Chelsea Harbour.
They were looking to have it fully redesigned and refurbished before moving in, with a rich and luxurious style and lots of impact.
The entrance hallway sets the scene, with a powerful combination of materials and lighting. Against an engineered floor, the walls are decorated with panels of rough white quartz stone, interspersed with LED-lit high-gloss wave panels. A textured wallcovering decorates the other walls, and a custom-made elliptical mirror with LED back-lighting enhances the dramatic view.
The ceiling is a sophisticated design and installation, combining diffused lighting with intricate laser-cut panels and a new stepped coving. We removed the original ceilings in order to install the lighting within a recess above, behind a frosted diffuser. The beautiful panels let the light through as well as being a stunning decorative effect in themselves.
The open plan sitting room and dining room is a magnificent entertaining space. In the sitting room, custom-made upholstery and accessories were designed and installed to fit the space exactly. A unique installation of decorative Lincrusta wallcovering is a rich backdrop and zones this part of the room. Opposite the seating area the fretwork detail is repeated. This time it decorates the wall with a layering of soft metallics, and is punctuated with a slice of mirror glass. Floating cabinetry below houses AV equipment and the Art Frame TV above is recessed into the wall for a seamless appearance.
A glamorous feature light of cast glass orbs hangs over the sculptural glass table. Behind it the fretwork pattern design is subtly etched into the glass of the walnut sliding doors leading through to the kitchen.
The kitchen combines white marble and units with black granite and dramatic mosaic tiling. Gaggenau appliances and new lighting complete the specification.
The master bedroom is a wonderfully luxurious scheme, comprising further Lincrusta wallcoverings, upholstered panels, glitzy pendant lighting and shimmering fabrics in gold and Tiffany blue.
In the guest bedroom, the twin beds sit in front of another Lincrusta custom wallcovering, lit from behind the lacquered frame enclosing it. A custom headboard spans the full width of the frame, allowing the beds to be dressed as a king-size or twin beds as required, and is upholstered in off-white faux leather with gold piping to match the decoration behind it. The Lincrusta wallcovering is repeated within inset panels and joinery surrounding the TV, opposite the beds.
A third bedroom for the children has fitted beds and lots of storage space. The TV opposite the beds is linked to the games consoles housed in the unit below. Walnut-lined recesses in the cabinetry have mini LED lights for spotlighting the objects displayed within them.
We designed a range of rich and luxurious window treatments throughout the apartment, to match the individual design schemes of each room. Each of the rooms has decorative and embroidered sheer curtains for shade and privacy, with sumptuous, heavily-lined curtains over them. These are all hung on hidden, recessed tracks for the smartest finished result.
The bathrooms were all refitted with opulent combinations of stone, marble and mosaics. New custom-made joinery, Alessi sanitaryware and smart vanity lighting finishes these bathrooms to an exceptionally high standard.
On the terrace we added faux grass, planting and accessories, for a smart look that won’t require any maintenance. Mini golf can be played with a view over London’s River Thames.
We also updated and installed the water and heating services, air conditioning control, networked the property, and connected all rooms to a range of international satellite TV services.
