Following on from last month’s update, we’ve lots going on in London too, as always…
Redesigning a Marylebone mews house and adding a basement
In a pretty mews in Marylebone, we’re working with a family to redesign all of the living spaces in their home. As well as a new layout which meets the needs of the family, we’re working on the planning of their new basement, doubling their living space.
Basements have become common in London, as there’s not quite so much free space around as when this map was published. Although with careful planning they can provide beautiful, comfortable spaces. The proportions of the circulation spaces are especially critical, as is the management of natural light and lighting design throughout the basement levels.
In conjunction with the space planning work on this mews house we’re working on a modern redesign and style for this Marylebone home.
The second phase of interior design works in Chelsea
In Chelsea we completed the conversion of a previous client’s guest accommodation to provide an adaptable multi-use space including a home gym. It looks fantastic, and the client is delighted with the positive influence it’s had on their lifestyle, especially as it coincided with lockdown.
Now we’re about to start the second phase of works – to redesign the interior of the entrance area. This will provide a more spacious and stylish welcome to the interior of the home.
Another riverside apartment on London’s River Thames
Finally, our complete refurbishment of a riverside apartment near the Houses of Parliament is well underway. In addition to remodelling the layout and redesigning the interior of the apartment, we’ve made a number of upgrades.
New hard flooring has been installed throughout, complete with acoustic treatments and insulation to comply with the requirements of the building’s Licence to Alter. We handled all of the permissions for the client so that the works could be undertaken smoothly and, for the clients, easily. To streamline the look of the apartment we’ve also removed the dated heating systems and installed underfloor heating throughout.
I’ll be able to show some of the result of these works very soon…
