It’s the London Design Festival this week – the highlight of the design calendar in London and a great way to see all of the latest interior design products and ideas – from fabric and furniture to finishes and fittings.
The events started at the weekend and continue until this Sunday, 24th September. There are exhibitions and shows all over London, many of which are grouped into nine official design districts across the capital.
Here’s my summary of the major shows and exhibitions this week – the design destinations:
Decorex – Syon Park London
Now in its 40th year, Decorex opened its doors at the weekend and runs until tomorrow. Focusing on luxury design it’s a great show for interior designers in the high-end residential sector. Over 400 luxury design brands and bespoke makers fill the halls at the beautiful Syon Park in South West London.
Focus/17 – Chelsea Harbour Design Centre
The Design Centre at Chelsea Harbour represents over 600 luxury brands in 120 showrooms, and Focus/17 is their Autumn showcase. Including fabrics, wallcoverings, furniture, fittings, and everything for the high-end home interior, the show runs all week.
I visited today and saw some fantastic new fabric collections from the leading design houses – some of which are being incorporated into current design projects already!
100% Design – Olympia London
Billed as “the commercial cornerstone of the London Design Festival”, 100% Design is the original London design show, staged again at this fantastic venue. The sectors include interiors, workplace design, design and build, and design products. It’s opens tomorrow and is trade-only until the weekend, opening to the public on Saturday.
London Design Fair – Old Truman Brewery
The Tent and Superbrands shows continue at the Old Truman Brewery in East London this year, now under the banner of the London Design Fair. Always including a wide range of exhibitors, including international designers rarely shown in the UK, alongside up-and-coming independent makers and designers. The London Design Fair runs from Thursday through to Sunday.
Design Junction – Kings Cross Creative Quarter
Following a hugely successful and inspiring show at the Kings Cross Creative Quarter last year, Design Junction continues there for 2017 with an even larger multi-venue event. Running from Thursday to Sunday, this is not just a great design exhibition, but also a chance to enjoy the stunning redevelopment and regeneration of this area of London.
As well as these ‘design destinations’ there are hundreds of events in showrooms, retailers and exhibition spaces across London. Check out the full event directory and have a fantastic time!
