Hello. We’re an architectural interior design studio based in Hampshire.

We provide high-end interior design in Hampshire, creating considered, elegant homes for private clients across the county.

Since 2007, we have created creative, inspiring and finely detailed interiors for rural, coastal and urban homes throughout Hampshire.

Every project is unique, and every client brings a different story — individuality is what makes our work so rewarding.

I believe that the architectural design and interior decoration of our homes can have a powerful influence on our lives and wellbeing.

Home frames our daily lives: it’s the place we relax, entertain, work, restore and express ourselves. A well-designed interior supports how we do these things — and just as importantly, how we feel while doing them.

That feeling doesn’t happen by chance. It’s the result of thoughtful, intelligent and highly tailored design: a response to who you are, how you live, what you need and what you hope for. Seeing our clients experience joy, ease and delight in a transformed space — and feeling the emotional difference their home now makes — is why we do what we do.

Stephen Dick, Interior Designer

Interior designer in Hampshire – our studio

We are an interior design and architectural design studio specialising in private client homes and luxury residential developments across Hampshire. From our studio in West Meon, between Petersfield and Winchester, we offer a full interior design service across the county.

Hampshire heritage, thoughtful interior design

Hampshire’s rich history and culture shape our design approach. From the Georgian streets of Winchester to the maritime craftsmanship of Portsmouth, and the countless historic homes and villages across the county, Hampshire offers a blend of elegance, tranquility and style that inspires our work here.

Inspired by our beautiful surroundings

We draw on Hampshire’s rolling countryside, ancient woodlands and coastal light — translating these into balanced palettes, layered textures and interiors that feel both grounded and refined. The county’s heritage of architecture, engineering and craft informs an aesthetic rooted in authenticity, natural materials and thoughtful detail.

Hampshire’s influence on our interior design

We design with a strong sense of place. Across Hampshire’s varied landscapes and architectural styles there is often a shared thread: understated refinement, natural materials and an emphasis on comfort and functionality.

The result is calm, beautifully crafted interiors that honour local heritage while embracing contemporary living — homes that feel quietly modern and deeply connected to where they are.

Testimonials from our clients in Hampshire

Stephen assisted us with the interior design of aspects of a contemporary new build project.  In particular, he helped us to better visualise how spaces might be used and suggested some feature aspects for the house.

I would not hesitate to recommend him.

BH, Warsash, River Hamble, Hampshire

I have worked with Stephen at Residence Interior Design for a number of years now and the results have always been impressive.

Stephen is always so pleasant to deal with too.

James Coleman, Building Contractor, Hampshire

Stephen was hugely professional, came up with clever and innovative suggestions and provided detailed drawings and plans throughout.

I particularly liked the way in which he listened to my particular (and rather unusual) brief and really took it on board.

A remodelling of two adjacent townhouses to create a striking open-plan kitchen, dining and living space. Natural light and views were maximised; finishes were chosen to complement the extraordinary coastal light. A bespoke painted timber kitchen, designed exclusively for this client, allowed for integrated art shelving with custom lighting.
Each space enjoys views across the River Hamble, with the sitting area oriented towards The Solent to create a relaxed yet social retreat.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a Hampshire style for interior design?

Not exactly — but there are subtle yet important influences.

We design interiors that feel deeply personal to each client, shaped by their style, lifestyle and the character of their home, whether it’s a rural cottage or a contemporary waterfront property. Hampshire’s wider context matters too though, as location and environment influences how we’d like to live.

The county’s heritage of quiet refinement, natural materials and muted palettes contributes to the sense of place we aim to create. These reflections help anchor each project within its surroundings while keeping them entirely individual.

Do we use suppliers from Hampshire for our projects?

We work with a wide range of suppliers, craftspeople, makers and specialists. Many are based in or around Hampshire, where traditional craftsmanship continues to thrive.

Sourcing locally is often a more sustainable choice, reducing transport and supporting the local economy.

Local materials also enhance a home’s sense of place — a key part of our design ethos.

In which areas of Hampshire can we help with interior design projects?

We work across the whole of Hampshire, from Highclere to Hook and Stockbridge to Southampton, and we undertake select projects on the Isle of Wight.

Whether your home is in Winchester, Basingstoke and their surrounding villages, or near the New Forest towns of Brockenhurst, Lyndhurst and Lymington, we would be delighted to help you with your project.

Our studio is located in the beautiful village of West Meon, between Petersfield and Winchester, and from here we provide interior design services throughout the county.
