Townhouse Redesign, Chelsea, London

A full redesign and refurbishment of this four-storey townhouse in Chelsea, London.  The property had been split into separate apartments in the past and we reworked the architectural layout of the property to bring these spaces back together.  The result is a layout that suits the client’s lifestyle and makes the best use of the space.

The interior was designed to be an elegant and luxurious home – an unfussy style with classical undertones to accommodate the client’s collection of artworks and antique furniture.

The hallway is a warm welcome into the home.  An oak timber floor and flatweave carpet runner to the staircase lend the space a smart yet relaxed atmosphere.  Clever storage is fitted beneath the staircase and at the rear a secluded bench seat provides a view over the garden

The study combines large armchairs for reading by the fireplace with a desk positioned to make the most of the natural light.  New fitted cabinetry and bookcases includes recessed LED lighting to enhance a collection of antique glassware.

In the open plan drawing room the windows are framed with silk curtains, against a backdrop of a deep-coloured silk wallcovering.  The furnishings are elegant, comfortable and sympathetic to the other antique furniture pieces, while the accessories subtly reference the artworks.  Bespoke lighting and lamp shades complete the scheme.

Alongside, a modern kitchen in walnut allows for flexible entertaining.  As part of the rich colour palette the cabinetry is finished with a luxurious Labrador Antique granite worktop.

Our work on this project also included the planning permissions required for some of the improvements to the property.
